Revisiting the Kielderhead Wildwood
This month we embarked on an inspiring revisit to the Kielderhead Wildwood Project to deliver a £1000 cheque raised from sales of This Is Northumberland 2022.
Northumberland Wildlife Trust’s 5-year involvement in the project is drawing to a close, as the last of the 30,000 pledged trees will be planted in the coming weeks. Following this, Forestry England will take responsibility for the continuation, expansion and safeguarding of the project along the Scaup Burn at Kielderhead.
18 months have passed since our last visit and it is incredible to witness how the landscape has already started to change. Confirmed sightings of golden eagles soaring over the wildwood certainly give a taste of what the long-term impact of this project will be.
We would like to thank everyone who has purchased a copy of This Is Northumberland and enabled us to support this inspiring project.
